We use the words "Scientists and Engineers" or "Developers" to describe the group of people (Scientist, Technicians, Inventers, Tinkerers, Gadget Makers, Programmers and Engineers) that create, invent, develop and maintain technologies of all kinds. These people know first hand more than anyone that we have to change and how to make the changes. They've been sounding the alarm but no one is listening.
 

*** It’s time!  ***

It’s your time. You’re a technologist in a technological age that is crying out for your help, but you are silent. Meanwhile, we have the craziest of the ignorant and crazy running the world and we wonder why things are a mess.  It’s time to wake and mobilize the smartest and most powerful people on the planet, the real elite. For much too long we’ve followed blindly while being ignored and taken for granted, when in truth, you are the real elite on this planet. Where is your self-respect? You have the real power to save lives, to improve the human condition and to change civilization as we know it. Then why aren’t you doing something?

The world is on fire and there is very little substance if anything that is coming out of our community. It’s time to step out of the Lab to get involved. We have to be more vocal and assertive. Otherwise, the insane will decimate what’s left of this planet. Posting warnings and making dire predictions of the future is not enough. We have to provide a new vision and direction for the future and show the people how to get there. Otherwise we deserve to be ignored. I know there are many in our ranks that are frustrated because they feel so weak and hopeless to do anything. Not anymore. We’ve been passive for too long. We have to act. Anything less is irresponsible!

"lead without leading" We have to learn to lead without leading. Leading by example or Leading with good technology and ideas. People want choices, not restrictions, not threats, ultimatums, speeches, rhetoric, excuses, promises or Band-Aids. They want new and better ways of living, but they don't want to be told how to live. The answer is direct democracy. It is the only way to set the whole world free. No one chooses to be a slave when given the choice.
